From Talent To Business

Helping teens & young adults transform a talent, trade, hobby, skill, or business idea into a professional brand, website, marketing system, & launch-ready business.

Your Teen Already Has the Talent. Let's Build the Business.

Some teenagers have a gift for photography. Others can bake incredible cookies, restore old furniture, detail cars, mow lawns, tutor younger students, create amazing artwork, teach golf, ride horses, build websites, or spend hours creating content on social media. They already have the talent. They already love what they do. What they usually don't know is how to turn that passion into something that actually makes money.

That's where I come in. Over the past 20+ years, I've built businesses in multiple industries from the ground up. I've celebrated the wins, made plenty of expensive mistakes, figured out what actually works, and had the privilege of helping others build businesses they're proud of too. Now I'd love to help them discover what's possible.

This isn't a classroom filled with lectures or busy work. We'll sit side by side, roll up our sleeves, and build a real business together, one step at a time. My goal isn't just to help them launch a business. It's to give them the confidence and skills to grow it long after we're finished working together.

How It All Started

As both an entrepreneur and a homeschool parent, I've watched so many talented young adults reach the same point. They've become really good at something they genuinely enjoy doing. Maybe they're detailing cars on the weekends, baking custom cakes, photographing families, walking dogs, pressure washing driveways, mowing lawns, creating custom artwork, restoring old furniture, tutoring younger students, or managing social media for local businesses. Friends and neighbors start asking for their help, they make a little money here and there, and before long they begin wondering, "Could I actually turn this into a real business?"

That's usually when they get stuck.

They aren't afraid of the work, they already know how to do that part. They just don't know how to find more customers, what to charge, how to build a website, market themselves, or create something that continues growing long after the first few jobs. Many have already tried, but without the right guidance they often become frustrated, lose confidence, or simply don't know what the next step should be.

That's why I created From Talent to Business™.

One of my favorite things is mentoring young entrepreneurs and helping them build something they truly own. We'll work side by side as I teach them the same business, branding, marketing, website, and growth strategies I've used for years, giving them the confidence to build a business they can continue growing long after we're finished. My hope is that one day they'll be so successful they're no longer doing everything themselves, they'll be leading a team, creating opportunities for others, and looking back at where it all began.

MEET YOUR MENTOR FROM TALENT TO BUSINESS.png

Meet Your Mentor

Aloha, I'm April, and one of my favorite things in the world is watching someone realize they're capable of so much more than they ever imagined.

There's something really special about that moment when a young entrepreneur sits back, looks at the website we just built together, smiles, and says, "Wait...I actually did this." Then a few days or weeks later, the first inquiry or service request comes in, and suddenly it all feels real. Watching their confidence grow from "I have an idea" to "I have a business" never gets old.

BUILD YOUR BUSINESS. ONE LEVEL AT A TIME.

Your Step-by-Step Business Blueprint

  • Building the Foundation. Everything begins with a great idea, but not every idea becomes a successful business. During Level One, we spend time discovering your student's strengths, talents, interests, and long-term goals. Together we'll identify who their ideal customer is, research competitors, discuss pricing, evaluate whether their idea fills a need in the marketplace, and develop a clear direction before investing time or money into branding or marketing. By the end of the session, students leave with confidence in their business idea, a better understanding of their target market, and a practical roadmap for moving forward.

By the end of this session, your student will leave with a validated business idea, a clear understanding of who their ideal customer is, an initial pricing strategy, valuable market research, and a personalized roadmap that gives them the confidence to move forward knowing they're building a business with purpose.

    6 Hour Sessions:

    1 student: $695  |  2 students: $595 each | 3-4 students: $495 each

*Students enrolled in group instruction meet together, collaborate as a team, participate in instructor-led discussions and activities, complete individual business projects, and receive personalized feedback throughout the session.

  • Creating Your Business Identity. Once we've established a strong business idea, it's time to give it a personality. During this session we'll work together to create a professional business name, develop a memorable brand, establish colors and fonts that reflect the business, create a logo, discuss storytelling, and design professional business cards. We'll also talk about why branding is much more than a logo, it's the first impression customers have of a business and one of the biggest factors in building trust.

Your student will leave with a professional business name, a recognizable brand identity, a custom logo concept, carefully selected colors and fonts, professionally designed business cards, and a polished image that helps customers immediately understand who they are and what they offer.

    6 Hour Sessions:

    1 student: $695  |  2 students: $595 each | 3-4 students: $495 each

*Students enrolled in group instruction meet together, collaborate as a team, participate in instructor-led discussions and branding activities, complete individual design projects, and receive personalized feedback throughout the session.

  • Building Your Online Home. This is where your student's business truly begins to come to life. We'll sit side by side and build their website together, explaining every step along the way. Rather than simply designing a website for them, I'll teach them how to build it themselves so they'll always know how to update it in the future. We'll create the essential pages every business needs, organize information in a way that's easy for customers to understand, and ensure the website looks great on both computers and mobile devices.

By the end of this session, your student will have a professionally designed, mobile-friendly website with the essential pages every business needs, along with the knowledge and confidence to continue updating and managing it themselves as their business grows.

    6 Hour Sessions:

    1 student: $895  |  2 students: $795 each | 3-4 students: $695 each

*Students enrolled in group instruction meet together, collaborate as a team, participate in instructor-led website development activities, complete their own individual websites, and receive personalized coaching and feedback throughout the session.

  • Helping Customers Find You. After completing the foundational website, we'll transform it into a polished, professional business tool. We'll improve the design with more advanced layouts, discuss photography and visual presentation, create forms, automation, and lead capture opportunities, and optimize every page for search engines. Students will also learn how Google works, why keywords matter, how to write effective page titles and descriptions, optimize images, connect Google Search Console, and improve their chances of being found online.

Your student will leave with a polished, search engine optimized website that is designed to be found online, create a stronger first impression, generate leads, and provide customers with a professional experience that builds trust from the very first click.

    6 Hour Sessions:

    1 student: $995  |  2 students: $895 each | 3-4 students: $795 each

*Students enrolled in group instruction meet together, collaborate as a team, participate in instructor-led website optimization activities, complete improvements to their own individual websites, and receive personalized coaching and feedback throughout the session.

  • Working Smarter, Not Harder. Artificial Intelligence has quickly become one of the most valuable business tools available, but learning how to use it effectively is just as important as learning what it can do. During this level I'll teach students how I personally use AI to brainstorm ideas, research topics, create content, improve customer communication, organize projects, and save countless hours each week. They'll also learn how to write better prompts, avoid common mistakes, and use AI as a business assistant instead of allowing it to replace their own creativity and thinking.

By the end of this level, your student will understand how to confidently use artificial intelligence as a practical business tool to save time, generate ideas, create content, improve customer communication, streamline daily tasks, and continue growing their business without feeling overwhelmed by constantly changing technology.

    6 Hour Sessions:

    1 student: $795  |  2 students: $695 each | 3-4 students: $595 each

*Students enrolled in group instruction meet together, collaborate as a team, participate in instructor-led AI workshops and guided activities, develop personalized AI workflows for their own businesses, and receive individualized coaching and feedback throughout the session.

  • Sharing Your Story With the World. Once the business has been built, it's time to introduce it to the world. Together we'll connect the business to the social media platforms that make the most sense for that student's audience rather than trying to be everywhere at once. We'll discuss content creation, storytelling, photography, video, branding consistency, and realistic marketing strategies that students can continue using long after our mentorship ends. My goal is to help marketing feel approachable, authentic, and sustainable rather than overwhelming.

Your student will leave with a customized marketing strategy, connected social media platforms, a realistic content plan, and the confidence to consistently promote their business through authentic storytelling, photography, video, and creative marketing that attracts the right customers.

    6 Hour Sessions:

    1 student: $895  |  2 students: $795 each | 3-4 students: $695 each

*Students enrolled in group instruction meet together, collaborate as a team, participate in instructor-led marketing workshops, develop individualized marketing strategies for their own businesses, and receive personalized coaching and constructive feedback throughout the session.

  • Opening Your Doors With Confidence. The final level prepares students to confidently launch and begin operating their business. We'll discuss the practical steps involved in opening a business, including understanding LLCs, obtaining an EIN, opening a business bank account, choosing bookkeeping and accounting resources, understanding taxes at a beginner's level, setting up payment processing, scheduling systems, customer communication, referrals, networking, and planning for future growth. Students leave with a clear understanding of what comes next and the confidence to continue building their business independently.

By the end of the final level, your student will have a complete business foundation, the confidence to launch and manage it successfully, practical systems for serving customers and staying organized, and a long-term vision for continuing to grow their business, build a team, and create opportunities for years to come. Perhaps most importantly, they'll leave knowing they built something real with their own hands and have the confidence to keep building long after our mentorship has ended.

    6 Hour Sessions:

    1 student: $695  |  2 students: $595 each | 3-4 students: $495 each

*Students enrolled in group instruction meet together, collaborate as a team, participate in instructor-led business development activities, complete individualized launch plans for their own businesses, and receive personalized coaching and constructive feedback throughout the session.

  • Congratulations! You've built your business, launched your brand, and you're officially a From Talent to Business™ graduate. Now it's time for one of the most exciting parts of entrepreneurship, meeting real customers face-to-face.

During this hands-on mentorship, we'll share a booth together at the Downtown St. Cloud Young Entrepreneurs Market or another approved community event. I'll show you everything I know about preparing for a successful event, from completing the application and communicating with event organizers to planning your booth layout, displaying your products or services, pricing, signage, and packing everything you'll need for the day.

Once the event begins, we'll work side by side as I coach you through greeting customers, starting natural conversations, explaining what you do, answering questions with confidence, capturing leads, accepting payments, and creating an experience that people will remember. You'll learn how to represent your business professionally while gaining valuable real-world experience that simply can't be taught in a classroom.

By the end of the day, you'll understand how community markets, homeschool expos, trade shows, festivals, and local events can become an important part of growing your business and building lasting relationships within your community.

Your Student Leaves With: A complete understanding of how to prepare for, set up, operate, and pack down a professional vendor booth, the confidence to represent their business in public, practical experience interacting with real customers, and the knowledge to participate in future markets, homeschool events, community festivals, and trade shows on their own.

There's something incredibly rewarding about watching a young entrepreneur hand a customer their very first business card, complete their first sale, or hear someone say, "I'd love to hire you." Those are the moments that remind them their dream has become something real.

    6 Hours $495 each student

*Students participate together in a collaborative, instructor-led entrepreneurial marketplace experience where each student operates their own business while supporting fellow participants in a shared learning environment. Individual coaching, observation, and personalized feedback are provided throughout the experience.

Each six-hour mentorship session is purchased individually, allowing families to progress one step at a time. Students complete each level before advancing to the next, ensuring they build a strong business foundation and the confidence to succeed.

Real Words from Happy Business Owners

Photographer

"I'm honestly not someone who usually writes reviews, but I wanted to for this because it helped me more than I expected. I already loved taking pictures, but every time someone asked if I had a website or how much I charged, I'd kind of panic because I didn't really have an answer.

I thought this was just going to be about building a business, but it ended up being so much more. April has a way of making everything feel less overwhelming. If I got stuck, we'd figure it out together. If I had a crazy idea, she'd help me make it even better. I never felt rushed or like I was supposed to already know something.

One of my favorite parts was realizing I didn't have to do everything perfectly before getting started. We made progress every time we met, and after a while I looked back and couldn't believe how far I'd come.

My mom kept saying, "I can't believe you made all of this." Honestly...I couldn't either. I left with something that actually feels like me, not some cookie-cutter business that looks like everyone else's. I still have a list of ideas I want to keep working on, and it's nice knowing I can always come back if I get stuck or want to learn something new. I don't feel lost anymore, and that's probably the biggest thing I gained.”

"I've never really been the outgoing type. I'd honestly rather spend an entire day in my workshop than be in a room full of people. Give me an old dresser, a piece of rough-cut wood, or a project that needs fixing, and I'm happy. Talking about myself or trying to sell my work...not so much.

My mom actually found April's program and asked if I'd be interested. At first, I wasn't sure because I thought it was going to be a lot of presentations or group discussions. It wasn't like that at all.

The nice thing was that April didn't try to change who I was. She understood pretty quickly that I wasn't looking to become the loudest person in the room. I just wanted a real business that looked professional and actually worked. She helped me build everything one piece at a time without making me feel rushed or overwhelmed.

There were times when I'd just sit quietly thinking through an idea, and she was completely okay with that. She gave me space when I needed it, answered my questions when I had them, and somehow always knew when I was overthinking something. I never felt pressured to be someone I wasn't.

My website ended up looking better than I ever imagined, and now when someone asks what I do, I can simply send them the link. My parents help with some of the scheduling and customer calls, and that's okay. We work as a team, and April reminded me that every successful business looks a little different. You don't have to do everything yourself to build something you're proud of.

The day my website went live, my mom gave me a hug and said, "Now everyone gets to see what I've always seen." I'll never forget that.

I still reach out to April whenever I want to add something new or improve my business because I'd rather have someone I trust helping me than spend hours trying to figure everything out by myself. Knowing she's there if I need her takes a lot of pressure off, and honestly, that's been one of the best parts of this whole experience.”

"If I'm being completely honest, I was exhausted before I ever found April. I had already spent months trying to build my business by myself. I watched YouTube until I couldn't watch another video. I bought courses. I downloaded apps I never ended up using. I tried AI. I tried building my own website. I even hired someone who promised they would help me grow my business, and I somehow ended up even more confused than when I started.

The problem wasn't that I didn't want to work hard. I LOVE working hard. I just needed one person who actually knew what they were doing and could say, "No...do this first."

The first time I met April, I knew almost immediately this wasn't just another business program. She wasn't trying to impress me with big words or convince me to buy something else. She genuinely wanted me to succeed. Honestly, I remember leaving that first meeting thinking, "Where has this woman been my whole life?"

What I loved most was that our personalities matched. We both have a million ideas, we're both positive, we both believe opportunities are everywhere, and neither of us is willing to quit when something doesn't work the first time. If Plan A didn't work, we'd laugh about it, figure out Plan B, and keep going. Somehow she made the overwhelming parts actually fun.

When my website finally went live, my mom started crying. Then I started crying because for the first time I wasn't looking at an idea anymore...I was looking at my business. Something I had actually built. My dad just kept shaking his head saying, "I can't believe you did all of this." Neither could I, honestly.

Looking back now, I would've skipped every course, every app, every subscription, and every shortcut if it meant getting here sooner. The value I received wasn't just the website or the branding. It was having someone believe in me, challenge me, answer my questions, celebrate every little win with me, and remind me that I was capable even on the days I doubted myself.

I still text April when I have a new idea because I know she'll be just as excited about it as I am. I don't think I'll ever stop learning from her, and I'm really thankful I found her when I did.”
